Energist Ltd manufactures and supplies high quality specialist medical equipment for the cosmetic aesthetic market worldwide. Based in Swansea, South Wales, UK, Energist was founded in 1999 by technological entrepreneurs Dr Dennis Briaris and Simon George.
Energist boasts the most comprehensive range of VPL™ – Variable Pulsed Light- and IPL™ -Intense Pulsed Light- systems available for hair removal and aesthetic skin rejuvenation treatments. Their versatile and unique ‘MedArt™’ laser range offers aesthetic and surgical solutions to medical professionals worldwide. Energist was privately owned until 2003 when Excalibur (formerly Merlin Biosciences), a Private Equity vehicle which supports fast growing SME’s in the Aesthetic and life sciences sector, bought a stake in the business. In December 2007, Excalibur moved to acquire the whole company. In 2008 the company opened its Energist North America office just outside New York, USA.
Energist Group, founded in 2009 comprises Energist Ltd, Energist North America and MedArt A/S. Much of the Energist Group business is International, with strong markets in Europe, America, Asia and the Pacific region. In March 2009 Energist Group acquired the iPulse™ brand of Pulsed Light systems from UK manufacturer Cyden Ltd, giving Energist the most comprehensive range of Pulsed Light systems in the industry. iPulse™ systems are now manufactured at Energist Ltd, Swansea. November 2009 saw Energist Group acquire Copenhagen-based MedArt, a high end laser manufacturing company. With this expansion into the laser business, Energist Group is fast becoming a dominant equipment supplier within the aesthetic sector.
